Belford’s Magazine, Volume 2 [1888-89]

Belford’s Magazine, Volume 2 (Dec 1888-May 1889). Chicago: Belford, Clarke & Co 1888.

A contemporary review, from The Manufacturer and Builder, October 1889 (p. 139):

Belford’s is one of the latest accessions to the ranks of America’s literary magazines, and is rapidly earning for itself a permanent place. It has certain features that will insure for it a wide popularity, presuming, of course, that the quality of its contents is maintained up to its present excellent standard. These are, the publication, with each impression, of a complete novel by some author of note. This will commend itself favorably to all–and they are legion–who object to stories doled out in homÅ“opathic doses. Another excellent feature is the great variety of the contents, the effort of the editor being obviously to present his readers with the widest range of topics in each impression. The present (October) number bears the names of no less than eighteen authors, many of them names of note.
