Hawthorne

Hawthorne, by Henry James, Jun^r. [English Men of Letters Series], edited by John Morley. Published 1879.

I’m not sure why Hawthorne would be an “English Men of Letters” but perhaps Morley assumed that Hawthorne’s extended stay in London was enough to count.

Or not. It’s a great series of short biographies with a somewhat unifying theme. Who cares if the boundaries are pushed around a little?
