Conjuror’s House: A Romance of the Free Forest, by Stewart Edward White. New York : McClure, Phillips & Co., 1903.
[8], 260, [12] p., [6] leaves of plates : ill. ; 20 cm.
Published 1903, with scenes from the Photo-Play, this is a romance set in the northern forests.
It was made into a movie The Call of the North in 1914 by Cecile B. DeMille. There is an edition of The Call of the North in PG right now — but it is unknown if it is the same as this book. In any case, we’ve got cool photographs from the movie!
Stewart Edward White (1873-1946) lived a rather romantic-seeming life himself. You can read more about him here and here.
