The Knickerbocker New-York Monthly Magazine, Volume XXIII. January-June, 1844
The Knickerbocker was a popular monthly literary magazine. This volume includes articles by Washington Irving and poems by William Cullen Bryant.
This volume was not split into individual issues. It was the first periodical I put on DP; I’ve since learned better. It will be split before it’s posted to PG.

It took a very long time — January’s issue was posted in September 2006; June’s released in May 2008. One of the reasons is the sheer complexity of the formatting for this magazine, since I’m trying to use semantic markup. That and the fact that the teeny-tiny type makes for a longer magazine than the 108 pages seems to indicate.
Future issues will be a bit “cleaner” — still semantic, but not so pedantic — markup. I will probably also try to work out a more automated system for creating the texts from the Distributed Proofreaders output.
