Ohio Arbor Day 1913: Arbor and Bird Day Manual issued for the Benefit of the Schools of our State, edited by Grace R Clifton. Columbus, OH: State Commissioner of Common Schools. 1913.
Filled with poems and small stories about natural subjects. It also includes numerous photographs of birds, trees, eggs, and school buildings. As far as I’ve been able to find out, none of the buildings still stand.
Arbor Day was started in Nebraska in 1872, where it is still a public holiday. In Ohio, Arbor Day is now the last Friday in April, as it is for many of the United States. When this booklet was published, however, it was the 4th of April.
