Scrap Book, Volume 1 [1906]

The Scrap Book. Volume 1, March-August 1906. New York, Frank A. Munsey Co.
16 v. ill. 25 cm.
v. 1-13, no. 1; Mar. 1906-Jan. 1912.

The cover of this volume states that it contains “The Gems of The World.” From the first page of the first issue, we learn that it is to be different.

THE SCRAP BOOK will be the most elastic thing that ever happened, in the way of a magazine–elastic enough to carry anything from a tin whistle to a battle-ship. This elasticity is just what we should have in magazine-making, but it is precisely what we do not have and cannot have in the conventional magazine…. Custom has declared that they shall carrry nothing but original matter, and that it shall be dignified and temendously magaziny–so magaziny, in fact, that often it is as juiceless as a dried lemon.

This has a blanket clearance for all issues prior to 1923. Not that I have more than this one volume….
